What’s next?

Goodness guys, I’m gonna be honest with you, it’s been hard to give updates lately! Thankfully, Jake’s been able to have several good days in a row, and by good days I mean no long episodes of palpitations/fluttering. We really don’t know why things have calmed down a bit, but we’ll take it!ย Thank you, Jesus!

As you may remember, he got some testing done last week to see if his heart would be strong enough for an epicardial ablation or if he will go straight to the transplant list. And we finally heard this week that they’d like to move forward with the ablation. Phew, just having an answer on which route he was going was a relief! The ablation comes with risks but Jake wants to give it a go if it means he could have a break from these wacky rhythms!

The prep for the ablation is what’s been the most worrisome for him. One week prior he will have to decrease his amiodarone (antiarrhythmic medication), then two days before his procedure he will be hospitalized to flush the rest of the meds out of his system. When his heart is trying to bust through the max dose of meds already, getting off them completely for any amount of time, seems CRAZY! But that’s why they want him admitted, so if something does happen they can address it immediately.

There’s a lot of “what if’s” but we know that the Lord already has it all worked out. It’s no accident that he got his entire transplant evaluation completed before all this goes down, because now, if *ahem* stuff hits the fan he can be listed immediately for a new heart.

This is all scheduled for the end of June, so it’s coming up! My mom will fly in from Oklahoma to stay with us which is THE BIGGEST blessing! And I am working on getting all the things prepped – taking me back to the days of when we were getting ready for one of the babes to arrive ๐Ÿ˜‰ Packing a hospital bag, prepping meals, and all the things LOL!

Well, that’s all for now, thanks for taking the time to read all this (high five to you, if you actually did! ๐Ÿ˜…)!

  1. Thank you Brie. Is there anything else we can possibly help with? There are still things I can do, even from a distance.

    1. We are working on a few options for people if they feel led to help in some capacity, I will pass that along when the time comes. Thank you for offering!
